Heather Gander (Life member) R.I.P 18 August 2020
Heather Gander was the inaugural Lady President of the Hope Valley Bowling Club and was part of the Steering Committee formed to establish the Club. In the early days Heather held committee meetings in her home, until the Club opened.
Heather was the First Lady member to become a Life Member of the club, an honour bestowed on her in appreciation of her diligence and hard work in her part of establishing the Club.
Heather was a member of the first Board of Management, and over the next 30 years was part of numerous committees, in particular, catering which she was renowned for her expertise, including her rock cakes and delicious trifles.
Heather was a dedicated pennant player and was also very involved in all social games, making all social players very welcome. She chaired the Social Committee for a number of years and organised many of our initial “fun presentations” with vigour and enthusiasm.
